New York City
My last trip to New York City, I was just getting interested in photography again. My goal was to take lots of photos for practice, so I recruited some of my friends to help me make a photography scavenger list to use during the trip. I knew if I made the list myself, I would pick things that I was already planning on seeing and doing, so I wanted to stretch myself to be a little more creative. My friends did not disappoint. They came up with a list of about 53 for me to find; the items ranged from the standards to some of the weirdest requests ever. Unfortunately, I got sick on that trip and didn’t take many photographs.
So, while planning my most recent trip, I decided to resurrect the old list and commit myself to a weekend of photography. I shorted the list to 20 items; I combined somethings and just decided that I didn’t want to look for others (rats and horse poop – thanks, you weirdos). It was definitely a fun experience, and I would actually love to do it again in different places.
When I started working on the photos for the blog post, I realized that it was A LOT of photos, and I brainstormed a way to most easily share them. It happened that I’ve been playing around and learning how to use Canva and InDesign for work, so I jumped on the idea of turning the scavenger hunt into a mini digital magazine. And now, a few weeks later, I have something to share. I’d love to hear your feedback.
