Florida State Fair

One of the beautiful things about living in Florida is that when the gray, miserable winter blues are raging everywhere else, we have the most beautiful weather of the year. The skies are bright, clear, and blue, and the temperatures are a perfect chilly at night and warm enough for shorts and tank tops during the day. It makes me want to be outside, soaking up the sunshine and breathing in the air.

Last week, I had some time off from work, so with the beautiful weather and an urge to get out with my camera, I headed to the Florida State Fair. I love the way that the rides, booths, and signs come out in highly contrasted black and white images; I find them nostalgic and so full of hidden stories.

Also, I went looking for some awesome fair food. I am tater tot obsessed, so when I found a booth where they mixed them with everything imaginable, I got mine covered in Sloppy Joes and cheese. And then, I had an Amish recipe doughnut that I cannot stop talking about. Thank goodness that Peachy’s Baking Co doesn’t have a store anywhere close by me, or I’d probably forgo healthy food most days for these!

It ended up being an amazing day to play a little hooky from work.
