Rainy Plane Window - Iceland - FI

Good Morning, Iceland!

On my way to Amsterdam, I had a short layover in Iceland. On the plane (Icelandair again), I met the loveliest Belgian couple. They looked after me, making sure that I was drinking enough water and getting adequate bathroom breaks. They talked to me about Belgium, and I have to admit that I’m a little sad that I didn’t book that stop in Brussels that I was considering. Belgian chocolate alone should be motivation enough. The flight was good, and I got to catch up on screen time (latest episode of American Horror Story (Yaaaas, witches!), Deadpool 2 (Hello, Josh Brolin!), The Edge of Seventeen (Loved, LOVED this one), and Gilmore Girls).

When we landed at 6 AM, it was blustery, cold, and rainy. We had to get off the plane on the tarmac, load into buses, and then walk into the terminal. For some reason, it had been so insanely hot in the plane, so that cold air was both refreshing and painful. However, inside the terminal, I found myself freezing and having to dig out my warm jacket. And then with a good hour to spare,  I hunted down some of my Icelandic favorites for breakfast (remember my love for Icelandic Breakfast?) – chocolate licorice and Skyr. Priorities.

I love the early morning flights out of Keflavík; there is something so magical about the lights at the airport and seeing the sunrise over those beautiful mountains during takeoff. This time it was rainy and cloudy, but the rain was in beads on the plane windows, and it looked like Christmas. Someday soon, I’m coming back to stay in Iceland for a bit again… I can feel it in my heart. For now, off to adventures in Amsterdam.
