Icelandic Airport Sunset - FI

In the Air Again

Breakfast in Paris

And here I am again at the end of another wonderful trip. I cannot imagine staying in Paris without a balcony that opens on the street. I would miss listening to those beautiful street sounds at night and marveling at the way that street lights bend the ironwork into such beautiful shapes.  Très romantique et noir. This morning, I woke up early, wanting to breathe in as much of that Paris air as possible before I headed home. I went to la pharmacie to find some beautiful things to bring home (mascara and lip balm, oh my!), picked up a picnic breakfast at La Grande Epicierie (fancy waters and chocolate croissants), and then hung out in the park near the hotel until it was time to leave. By private car. That was a luxury totally worth the cost. Hey Paris, no need to woo me so hard, I’ll be back.

Departing Orly

This trip, I flew out of Orly. I’ve heard bad things, but I may have been swayed after watching (and rewatching) Funny Face and wanting to experience every place from the movie. I had a great experience and found the airport easy to navigate. I bought Laudree macarons to bring home to share with my mom and got a final send-off lunch from Maison Kaiser (ham and cheese sandwich, an eclair, and some chocolate mousse). I didn’t mind the wait. I loved the airport’s big glass windows and the ability to take in the beautiful, blue French skies for a little while longer.

Waiting at an Airport in Iceland

My flight from Iceland to Tampa was delayed, but at least I was able to find a comfy place to sit and gaze at the beautiful Icelandic mountains. It gave me time to hunt down one of those insanely good Icelandic hot dogs and some chocolate covered licorice. An enthusiastic YES! to the extra suitcase! (Until I had to navigate to the parking garage with two giant, heavy suitcases at midnight in Tampa!).

Also, because the flight was pushed back an hour, we left Iceland right at the golden hour. Sunrise and sunset are so extra colorful and vibrant in Iceland. We chased that beautiful sunset home for hours. It was completely magical. Another beautiful trip completed.

For the next few days, you’ll find me hiding out in my bed, snuggling with my cats .
