Ready For Your Close-Up?

Hello Friends. Here I am again. Another photography project. Another open ended request for your help.

See that girl to the side… she was fascinated with the 1960’s (The Beatles, Woodstock, Bob Dylan, love-ins, The Rolling Stones, Barefoot in the Park, The Who,  protests, Paul Newman, mini-skirts, tie-dye, Elvis, long long long hair, peace, love…) and always at the library pouring over photography books, old magazines, and vinyl liner notes. I studied photographs and got lost in a land that seemed so far away from my reality. It introduced me to some of my favorite photographers (Annie Leibovitz, Will McBride, and Robert Freeman. They amazed me how they were able to capture both the place and the time.  But mostly, I was mesmerized by all their beautiful portraits … I love portraits, but taking them kind of scares the crap out of me.

So, welcome to last week when I see an alert that there’s an Annie Leibovitz master class in photography starting. In the excitement, I signed up without thinking or reading too much. It is portrait focused. Shit. I guess that now is as good a time as any to face my fear.

This is where you come in. I need your face. Ok, that sounds creepy, but will you let me take your photo?

I love black & white, find people’s eyes the most telling, and am not crazy about super posed shots, but I’m still figuring out my portrait style. We’ll play. We’ll have fun. I’ll probably end up baking you cookies (probably would do that anyways) to thank you. I will need to use the photos  on my website, Instagram, and in my portrait class assignments. If you love them (I hope you do), you can use them too.

So, if you’re interested, email me. I’ll love you forever and be your very best friend.  I’ll be working on this for the next few months. My goal is 100 different portraits. I’m not even sure that I know 100 people. Also, part of the class is that I have to have my camera with me all the time to always be ready, so get use to my lovely new accessory (to be ready at a moments notice… I promise that I won’t be following you around stalking you with my camera). Make love to the camera, baby.
