Amsterdam Central - FI

Train Travel

When I woke up this morning, it was pouring rain. I had about a mile walk to Amsterdam Centraal to catch my train to Paris, and I decided that I was just going to have to tough it out. By the time I had checked out of the hotel, the rain had stopped. Walking to the station, I even got to see the most beautiful sunrise. Once in the station, the rain started up again, and sound of the rain and the visual of the water coming down on the building all around me was so incredibly perfect.

This was my first time taking a train. I was both nervous and excited, a common combination for me. It turned into one of my favorite travel experiences. I was glued to the windows, enthralled watching the countrysides of the Netherlands, Belgium, and France whipping past me.

I especially found that train stations are beautiful in black and white. It makes them feel extra romantic and exciting. All those pretty lines and routes to new possibilities.
