Witchery of Living

Heading into Fall, the sunrises and sunsets in Florida become magical. Maybe it is something with the angle of the sun or the way that the nights cool the air, but the clouds swirl in the sky, and the sun gets extra colorful in her entrances and departures.

I have been devouring an anthology of Mary Oliver’s poetry. She sees the world as magic, describes the beauty of nature, and embraces leaning into your feelings. I love the way she has me seeing nature.

On my morning walk, I snapped a few photographs. The sky was colorful but also pastel and calm. The birds were waking up, and they seemed to enjoy the calm, beautiful morning as much as me. I wonder what Mary Oliver might have written about the moment because it seemed a moment destined for a poem.

…they know nothing about the sky that’s waiting. Or the thousands, the millions of trees. They don’t even know they have wings.

Mary Oliver
