Revisiting Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a charmer of a city: fun, inviting, and so unique. It is a visually stunning place full of beautiful architecture, sparkling canals, romantically lit bridges, quirky storefronts, fascinating museums, and fun people.
Early in the morning, during the golden and purple sunrises, I fell in love with Amsterdam. I spent hours walking through mazes of museums, studying plants and butterflies at the botanical gardens, and finding a new perspective on the city around each bend in a canal. I drank coffee, ate bitterballen and appeltaart, and marveled at how everywhere I went seemed to be filled with people chatting. And people were not on phones or computers but having real conversations with each other. I listened as these conversations echoed off the sparkling water in the canals and against the beautiful, intricate buildings to create such an intimate soundtrack to a place that could so quickly feel like home.
Usually, I write about my trips within a month of arriving home. This time, it has been 10 months. Yikes. Better late than never. If there was a travel destination that can handle unorthodox, I think it is Amsterdam. I created this collection of the twenty things that I loved about Amsterdam, filled with photos and stories from my trip. Enjoy.
