New York City - FI

New York City

New York, New York!

New York City - FI

Welcome to New York City

New York City is a special kind of magic. As you walk between neighborhoods, the city embraces you with subtle shifts into the completely unexpected: miles of concrete, art deco skyscrapers, Gothic churches, sprawling parks, thousands of delicious foods, street vendors, larger than life stores, and the most random, artistic, and weird shit ever.

Thanks to Bob Dylan, Ghostbusters, J.D. Salinger, Paul Simon, and Desperately Seeking Susan, a love for New York City has been long imprinted on my heart, but it grows with each visit.

Scavenge: New York City

After recruiting some friends to help me compile a photography scavenger hunt, I explored Manhattan with my camera for a weekend.

I tried to be creative, took liberties with themes, and forgot a few others, but it allowed me to see the city in a new way. This is the result.

Searching in New York City

New York City is a special kind of magic. Through the likes of Bob Dylan, Ghostbusters, J.D. Salinger, Paul Simon, and Desperately Seeking Susan, the city had been imprinted on my heart long before my first visit.

You never know what to expect in New York, because it is the unexpected. I never make plans when I visit. I love to walk everywhere, embraced in the beautifully diverse shifts between neighborhoods and not being fully prepared for what I will see next: Gothic churches and art deco skyscrapers, thousands of new foods to try, street fairs, interesting stores, and the most random, artistic, and weird shit ever.

For the sake of creativity, I recruited some of my friends to help me make a photography scavenger hunt. They did not disappoint, coming up with a list of 53 photos for me to find; the items included standards and some of the weirdest requests ever. I shorted the list to 20 items; I combined some things and decided removed others (rats and horse poop – thanks, you weirdos).

Loved that. Very interesting, beautiful photos and wonderful quotes. I’m sure I’ll end up in NY someday so it’s nice to have a good personalised list of things to see. The Buddha statue was particularly nice. Good work 🙂

Annie this is absolutely remarkable. I love the way you’ve captured all of these images and given life to them. You have such an interesting view and I really enjoyed the stories you included with the pictures.
